Guest rooms are one of the best places in a home to add a little more personality and have MORE FUN. These guest spaces don’t have to feel as safe as a primary bedroom, and honestly, they’re a great opportunity to create a space people actually remember after they leave.
The Louis Vitton red paneled guest bedroom in this home is a perfect example of that balance. It feels bold and interesting without feeling overdone.
Here are three things we did in that room that instantly gave it more character.
One of the easiest ways to make a guest bedroom feel collected is to showcase a collection instead of scattering random decor around the room.
In this bedroom, the glass display collection of purses and bags, the layered artwork and the collected styling help the space feel personal and lived-in instead of looking like everything was bought in one afternoon.
Collections naturally create interest because they tell a story. Whether it’s vintage artwork, antique finds, blue and white pieces, or framed family photos, grouping similar items together creates a focal point without adding clutter.
And honestly, it makes the room feel far more custom.
Guest bedrooms are the perfect place to try something a little bolder.
In the red paneled bedroom, the deep color instantly gives the room warmth and mood while the Louis Vitton leather WALLPAPER (!) wall paneling adds texture and architectural character. Because the stronger color stays concentrated on the walls, the room still feels balanced instead of overwhelming.
That’s usually the trick with bolder spaces. I came in halfway through the proiect, and the client had chosen the furniture and wall treatments. My biggest challenge was softening all the other elements so they did not compete with the main focal points. It could quickly get too BUSY and all would be lost agaisnt each other.
You don’t need every single element competing for attention. Let one feature lead the room and keep the rest simpler.
The neutral bedding and softer textures help calm everything down so the room still feels relaxing but luxe.
The best guest bedrooms feel thoughtful, not just decorated.
This room leans into that feeling with layered bedding, warmer lighting, softer textures, and a layout that feels inviting the second you walk in.
Even though the room has stronger design elements, it still feels comfortable because the details stay intentional and uncluttered.
That balance matters.
Guests want a room that feels interesting, but they also want it to feel calm and easy to settle into. The mix of moodier walls, cleaner furniture lines, and softer neutral layers helps this bedroom do both.
And honestly, that’s what makes a guest bedroom memorable in the first place.
If your home feels fine but not finished, that’s usually where I come in.
