A Houston-based poet said, “Fall comes to Texas by a wrong turn and a bit of luck.” It’s true that we don’t often see the dramatic seasonal changes that other parts of the country do. But what we DO get, we REALLY appreciate!
And while we wait (and wait) for fall outside, we like to bring some fun fall decor inside!
What says fall more than pumpkins? And they don’t have to be from the produce stand, either. These gilded beauties, set at different heights via cake stands, make a fall fashion statement, especially contrasted with the natural looking minis on the garland. I love their sheen against the matte finish shiplap!
Your mantel is a perfect spot to change out your seasonal decor. Here, sheaves of wheat, slices of wood, burlap ribbon, and mini pumpkins–all displayed against the brick backdrop–remind us of the bounty of nature. Blessed!
Notice burnished metals in arrow, tray, and tin leaf. Along with the brown tones in the transferware dishes, wood table and charger, they remind us of the subtle color changes fall brings.
To welcome fall temps and our neighbors too, we pulled out the old Radio Flyer to hold some hay and pumpkins. The mums soften the lines of the porch and add vivid color. Vary the height of your display using the steps, wood crates, ceramic pots, or even just stacking your pumpkins. Some LED candles will give your porch lanterns a soft glow all season.
Maybe you’re already throwing logs on the fire and drinking hot cider. Texas? We’ll get there–maybe in November! In the meantime, we’re really enjoying the cozy touches of our fall home decor!
