Halloween is a time for fun, but that doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice style and elegance in our decor. As a decorator who loves all things vintage, I have found a way to keep my Halloween decorations classy and timeless by incorporating vintage elements into my designs.
By mixing old with new, I have created a sophisticated and charming Halloween aesthetic that is sure to impress both guests and trick-or-treaters.
By incorporating antique pieces and classic design elements, I’m able to create a beautiful classy ambiance that stands the test of time.
Here’s a few classy items to act as neutrals…
Choose pillows with earthy, natural textures like burlap, linen, or cotton.
Opt for warm fall colors—rust, deep red, mustard, or forest green—and pillows featuring botanical prints, like leaves or acorns.
Add faux fur or knitted pillows for extra coziness, evoking the warmth of the season.
Like these classic gingham pattern in warm fall colors…
Place them on your couch or bed for a pop of autumnal charm that invites you to snuggle up and relax.
Complement your pillows by adding throws made from natural fibers, like wool or cotton.
Drape them over your furniture for added texture and warmth, or use plaid patterns for a classic fall feel.
Opt for earthy tones to maintain the natural, organic aesthetic.
I LOVE a great wreath.
Craft or buy a wreath made from natural materials like grapevine, wheat, dried flowers, or pinecones.
Add seasonal elements like mini pumpkins, corn husks, or dried orange slices for a pop of color.
Secure small faux or real pumpkins, gourds, or even dried corn husks to the garland for a bold seasonal statement. This is perfect for fall-themed decor and adds an element of fun. Add natural fiber accents like small burlap or cotton bows, or even weave strips of linen through the garland for a soft, earthy contrast against the greenery and other natural elements. You can tie these textiles in intervals to give the garland a handcrafted feel. This ready made garland does it all and is currently on sale!
Update your wall art with pieces that reflect the fall season.
Choose nature-themed art like autumn landscapes, leaf prints, or even framed pressed flowers or foliage.
This can be an easy and subtle way to infuse the room with seasonal warmth.
Use a wooden tray or basket to create a stunning fall centerpiece.
Fill it with pumpkins, pinecones, dried leaves, and eucalyptus sprigs.
You can also add candles or lanterns in warm tones to enhance the natural beauty.
For a rustic touch, scatter acorns and small branches around the arrangement.
I love these dried grass bundles in a vase.
Ultimately, our decor will be the sum total of the parts we choose, so it’s important we choose the right parts! If you need help, here are some tried and true choices.
Happy decorating!
