I’m so jazzed about decorating for fall! What’s so great about it? Well, I’ll tell you.
Best Thing #1
My decorations went up in September, and they will keep me smiling UNTIL THE END OF NOVEMBER! That’s 2 1/2 months, folks–nearly 20% of the year! What other seasonal items can you leave out to delight everyone for that long? Whoop!
Best Thing #2
You can pull items from all around your house and garden to incorporate into your fall displays. For my porch decor, I drafted into service some of my wooden boxes, bowls and trays, wire baskets, antlers (yes, antlers), potted plants and greenery, my olive bucket, planters and plant stands, and a variety of textiles. Anything in my stashes was fair game!
Best Thing #3
You don’t have to re-buy fall stuff every year–FAUX works JUST FINE! I mean it, have you seen all the great faux fall leaves, pumpkins, gourds, flowers and such in the hobby stores? So many nice things to choose from, and so many now that don’t look cheesy (with the exception of that felt scarecrow at the dollar store)! You can still mix in some fresh mums, greenery, or pumpkin patch real pumpkins (because your kids won’t give it a rest till you go)–but really you can save favorite fall items from year to year. (Catch all my tips for decorating and STORAGE here.)
Can I just say, I love my papier mache’ candy corn??
