Highland Park Grandmillennial French Country

One of the best parts of working with diverse clients is that also includes their design style. I never design the same space twice- simply because every design is custom to the persona living there and the style they love. I talk and study the designs they love, and incorporate the same elements into their personal space. 

Every time. 

It’s custom just for them. 

This client’s personal style was in line with French Country, also a bit of grandmillennial style.

Gabby Home defines the elements of grandmillennial style as “accents and accessories include pleated lampshades, botanical prints, monogrammed linens, and classic wallpaper. Furnishings often showcase traditional design elements, like tufting, skirting, cane or wicker detailing.”

Better Homes and Gardens defines French-country style as “combining European elegance with rustic comforts. Using soothing hues, soft patterns, and antique accents, the popular decorating aesthetic creates an inviting look that’s both polished and lived-in.”

Both of these appealed to my client, so my job was to marry the two in a way she would love.

So many shades of blue and so many ways to apply, adapt, and tweak blue and white. In this client’s home, I brightened the wonderful traditional bones with a lively blue and white scheme. Blue and white adapts to any decor, from rustic to ultramodern.

These clients wanted a space that their young daughter could grow with, which is exactly what I prefer! I recommend designing each space a few years beyond the current age of the child.

That way, the space will grow and last long as the child grows! This adorable wallpaper set the backdrop for a room that this young lady now loves to show off to visitors!
