Before and After: Colorful Kids’ Room Makeover
My client’s daughter wanted to add some chic to her bland bedroom. She loves turquoise blue and birds. She also wanted a touch of whimsy. In no time at all, this room went from from DRAB…
…to FAB!
Highlights in this redo:
-The birds she likes are subtly incorporated. Can you spot all the birds?
-Wall “jewelry” makes a young, fun statement. Notice the string lights, tassel garland, paper fans, and metal stars. Twinkle lights make the room seem magical at night when she’s asleep.
-The stripes on the accent wall are different shades of the same color, adding richness and interest to the room.
-The wooden name and unicorn above the headboard form a focal point for the room and bring a touch of whimsy.
-The lavender nightstand echoes the purple in the comforter. Note to self: you don’t want the furniture to be matchy-matchy, like your grandmother’s bedroom suite! Painting pieces is an easy and inexpensive way to inject vitality into your rooms.
-The small gallery to the right of the bed is a creative little vignette that incorporates different shapes and textures, with a touch of metallic shine.
Making a magical place for kids will be a memory they will have all their lives.
