Unity in diversity.
Sound like a political slogan? No, it’s what happens to a blank wall in your home when you bring together a variety of elements that work together toward a common goal–your new gallery wall!

Here, the grouping is tied together with a common element–metallic shine on the display boxes and sunburst mirrors. The diversity comes with the variety of items and textures displayed–glass, wood, plants. An asymmetrical arrangement creates visual interest!

In this grouping, unity is provided by the wood and golden tones. Diversity? The size and shape of the frames and the mix of typography and cast feather on display. Don’t you love how things aren’t centered in the frames?

Petite spaces love galleries, too! Tie your small gallery to a vignette on a tabletop. The eye travels from lamp to rounded sconce and mirror and back. Note the variety of shapes and textures. Mix it up!

Even a home office can benefit from a gallery wall. Whimsical elements (deer in top hat, anyone?) keep the fun in your work. And white touches tie it all together.

Typography is a unifying element of this baking-themed arrangement, AND the pennant shape breaks up the rectangles for some nice diversity, as do the differing fonts. Different words and types are one of my favorite things to use on a gallery wall filled with photos because it adds such an unique element! Just make sure you don’t put TOO many words!
Don’t be intimidated by gallery walls. Try working with art and items you already have. Lay them out on the floor and move them around until you have a arrangement that you love.
