A couch without a throw pillow looks like a room without wall hangings- tentative and unfinished. In selecting furniture, I tell clients to choose neutral colors they will love to live with for at least 5 years. However, being stuck with blah beige and simple gray might get boring. Insert the throw pillow! Suddenly, $30 can bring in color, pattern, and fun and it can be changed out for an extremely minimal investment! I encourage people to not make throw pillow shopping too difficult— if they like the pattern, price and color, give it a whirl!
Recommendations- I would make sure the pillows you choose are not made of a dated fabric or trim detail. If you have kids, you might want to consider kid friendly/spill friendly fabric over something light and hard to clean. Otherwise, collect them like candy and switch them out with the season!
Suggestions: On a large couch or sectional, get 2-3 different patterns that coordinate together. These can be all the same size or varying sizes and shapes. Use 1-2 of each of them beside each other in the corners of the couch and middle section. Be sure to pair the different fabrics together, and top it off with a coordinating and cozy throw blanket over one side. Do all this and your couch will be styled liked a magazine!
