Friends, what a thrill to be recognized by the Houzz community for outstanding work! I’ve recently been awarded the Best of Houzz Design badge AND the Best of Houzz Service badge for 2018! This is an amazing and humbling affirmation that the work I LOVE resonates with so many who follow, work in, and write about home design. I was blown away to learn that only 3% of Houzz professionals win this recognition each year! Thank you!!

This rustic ranch house’s owner was ready for a WOW factor for the entry. The foyer is the first room you see when entering the house, but a worn floral rug, heavy furniture,and dated yellow paint made it feel quite underwhelming.

To the rescue–new texture and paint on the walls, custom woodworking, and accent wall wainscoting!  To coordinate with the Texas ranch vibe, I added a console table with a rustic personality and a hide rug.  And for an unexpected bit of spunk and sparkle–the metallic log lamps! I think the gothic mirror and greenery give so much polish and pizzazz, don’t you?

“But,” you say, “I don’t even have an entry! My front door opens into our living room!” Never fear, my dear–you can create the illusion of an entry as I did here with furniture arrangement and a dresser-turned-console behind the sofa.

Just a TINY alcove by the door? Do what we did: turn it into a mini mud room and drop zone with built-ins!

Whether your home is refined or rustic, elegant or eclectic, let your entry welcome guests with an introduction to your style!

And remember, a few changes can totally transform! Houzz thought so!
