It’s DAY THREE of House Renovation Week, and it has been so fun showing how much our house has changed. I have gotten such kind comments and feedback, which is super nice.

I am so honored when people say they wish they could live in my house or they want me to come work on their houses.

If you have ever thought those thoughts, I am going to give you details on Friday about some great options for you!

Now onto the BEFORE….Yikesssssss.

 THANK GOODNESS FOR THE AFTER….

As a mom, I lose a lot of battles.

What they want to be for Halloween. (Sports again??)

What theme of birthday party they want to have (Sports again!!??)

What time they wake up in the morning (Believe me, it’s too early.)

And that’s okay. A lot of those battles are supposed to be lost on my end.  I don’t have a big stake in the birthday party theme, and it makes them happy.

I do, however, have a stake in how their rooms look, so we have to come up with an compromise that is kid friendly and mother approved. A lot like that cereal commercial.

While I am not against cartoon characters, the creative side of me wants to do a little something more than a bright graphic poster on the wall. So, when my son said he wanted a basketball room, we compromised with VINTAGE SPORTS. He actually said he wanted to paint it black so he could have a blue and black room like the Dallas Mavericks. Um, no.

When my youngest son said, well, NOTHING, because he is only two and doesn’t have input on his room yet, I said “Good Job!” and made his room a OUTDOOR CAMPING theme.

See, it’s all about compromise. Wink.

Now, on to Abe’s room…

Remodeling notes:

• The sports room was covered in green shag carpeting and had stains on the wall. Can you tell from the Before Picture? A new coat of paint made this room a whole new place.

• The camping room had an awkward doorway so we filled that in and took out a built-in to make room for plumbing behind it. We adding the camping light and the additional recessed lighting.
