What defines rustic design style?
One of the best parts of working with diverse clients is that also includes their design style. I never design the same space twice- simply because every design is custom to the persona living there and the style they love. I talk and study the designs they love, and incorporate the same elements into their personal space. Every time. Its custom just for them.
In this space, the homeowner’s style could be described as rustic.
Rustic design style is defined by the use of natural materials and finishes with a focus on comfort and practicality. It often incorporates elements such as distressed wood, natural stone, and aged metals. Colors are usually muted and earthy, with pops of brighter colors. Furniture is typically distressed and has a handmade feel. Accessories often incorporate items like vintage-style quilts and rustic pottery. Rustic design style celebrates the beauty of nature and the craftsmanship of handmade items.
This gorgeous home had fantastic bones but needed a dose of the new owner’s personality. With dramatic new paint, lighting, and eclectic furniture, we filled this large empty space with personality!
