Project Description

Historic Munger

This project was like a traveling through time! The home had been previously decorated as a rustic ranch – our job was to infuse it with the style of the owner’s beloved hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. To fit the desires of the homeowner, we had to update the interior to fit a completely different aesthetic, from a ranch with horses to an old, historic haven!

Courtney’s solutions included replacing the sitting room furniture with an Old-Style Charleston couch, chairs, rugs, lamps, and tables. She also added authentic Charleston artifacts and souvenirs, like a weaving basket and vintage school books from SC. While still infusing the homeowner’s love for Texas and horses, Courtney was able to create a style that fit the home’s historic past and design a home that the owner said she is, “proud to show off!”

Issues for the Homeowner:

  • New house in a completely different genre- from Ranch with horses to Old Historic– time-travel whiplash!

  • Old decor did not fit with style of new house

  • Historic House=Lack of storage in kitchen

  • Empty rooms and bookshelves looking sad and lonely

Desires of the Homeowner:

  • The infusion of her beloved hometown of Charleston, SC

  • Updated decor that fit the look and feel of this style home

Solutions from Courtney:

  • Sitting room furniture and decor much like Old Style Charleston

  • (New couch, chairs, rugs, lamps, tables, etc.)

  • Authentic Charleston artifacts and souvenirs, like a weaving basket and vintage school books from South Carolina

  • Still fusing the homeowner’s love for Texas and horses

The Results:

  • Rooms that remind the homeowner of the hometown she loves

  • A style that fits the home’s historic past

  • A home she says she is “proud to show off”!
